There’s something to be said about having a camping trip as often as you can. Rather than spend a fortune on going away this year, why not plan a little outdoor adventure with your loved one’s instead? Not only can you save yourselves a lot of money, but you can have lots of fun while you’re at it as well! If that’s of interest to you then stick around for some handy tips that will make the experience all the better.

1 – Keep the fire burning

Especially in the evening as it starts to get dark and the temperature drops, you’ll want a relatively low maintenance fire that is going to keep on burning throughout the night. The best way to do this is to spend a few hours collecting plenty of firewood for burning. That way, you won’t need to worry if the flames start to die, and you’ll have a stockpile of wood ready for consumption.

This can be quite a fun activity, where you can see who can collect the most wood in the allotted time, each having your own separate pile to work on. Just try to get a clear idea in your mind as to which logs were collected by you, as there are sneaky blighters out there who will almost certainly try to pinch a few of yours to pass of as their own.

2 – Use a headlight torch

These are so underrated! Having a headlight is so handy because it will free you up to carry out various tasks and activities without having to do so with only the one hand. In addition to that, you’ll always be illuminating the areas that you are looking towards. There are many different types that you can get, but we would recommend ensuring that everyone has their own for those late-night trips to the loo!

3 – Don’t skimp on your tent

For the most part, you can get away without spending too much money on camping gear, but your tent should always take high priority. Little things like ensuring that you have a sufficient waterproof cover can be the difference between a comfortable trip, and a miserable & damp one!

4 – Get some decent water-resistant shoes

There’s nothing worse than walking in wet socks all day! If you’re going to be doing a spot of hiking, then you must ensure that you are equipped with shoes that will keep your feet warm and dry. You may think that you’ll be able to get away with wearing trainers, but you’d be surprised!

5 – Check your sleeping area before setting up

When choosing a spot to set up your tent, make sure that the surface is actually suitable for sleeping on. Little things like clearing away any stones or checking for dips and wells that might cause you discomfort during the night. Another great tip is to invest in some affordable camping mats. That way you’ll have an uber comfortable space to sleep, whilst saving a bit of cash as well. It’s a win-win!
